Self-Compassion Day By Day: A book for anyone feeling lost or drowning
Self-Compassion Day by Day by Karen Locke
Book Review: Self-Compassion Day by Day by Karen Locke.
I picked this book up at the recommendation of a friend who is trained in Level 3 of IFS. I was newly postpartum with my oldest daughter, drowning in new motherhood and longing for something of substance I could read daily. I also felt so empty.. so…. lost. I also didn’t have the capacity to read a lengthy book and definitely didn’t want to read a clinical book. This book ended up being just what I needed.
This book can best be described as a warm hug from that one wise, nurturing friend or older sister. It’s not too long and is a simple read. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve flipped through this book on a particularly difficult day and landed on the perfect reflection I needed.
What I love about this book is that it offers short daily reflections from a parts or IFS perspective and only requires the attention span of 1-3 paragraphs max. If you or someone you know is feeling lost, empty, or going through a new or difficult season right now- give it a try!
